Concept, LEAF Technology from Bio-mimicry

Leaf Technology® can be summarized as a nanometric Super-Hydrophobic Coating.
A very thin layer (200 to 300 nanometers) of plasma polymer is anchored on any substrate.
The concept comes from the bio-mimicry of the leaves of several plants like the Lotus
for example, which use this function to self-clean their leaves.
Fluid repellency results in several very interesting associated functions :
• Anti-icing
• Anti-corrosion
• Anti-fouling
• Anti-bacterial
• Anti-adherent
• Hydro protection and Self–cleaning
And others, all fulfilling requirements in various industries and applications.

MODEL & METHOD

Wetting is the ability of a liquid to maintain contact with a solid surface, resulting from intermolecular interactions when the two are brought together. The degree of wetting (wettability) is determined by a force balance between adhesive and cohesive forces.

Application modes

Leaf Technology® is applied using plasma at atmospheric pressure. This allows an in-line treatment of any surface as opposed to the commonly used vacuum plasma technologies. The plasma does not increase the temperature of the surface.

Using Plasma as the application mode, Leaf Technology® can be applied to any material or surface.

On any material

The Leaf Technology® coating resists :

  • To temperature from -160 ° Celsius up to 300 ° Celsius.
  • to pH from 0 to 14.
  • Up to 20 bar pressure.
  • Elongation up to 20%
  • UV

The Leaf Technology® coating can :

  • Be conductive or dielectric
  • Transparent or with color
